About Med Serve

Bridging the gap between those who want to serve and those who need them

The need

4.6B
not fully covered by essential health services
5B
without safe, affordable surgical & anesthesia care
3.7B
affected by oral diseases worldwide

The need is great — and so is the desire to serve. Many qualified individuals are eager to use their skills to make a difference, while the organizations working to meet these needs struggle to find them. Med Serve exists to bridge that gap.

Our story

"I would love to serve. I just don't know where to find the opportunities."

As a surgeon, our founder had long hoped to use his medical skills to provide humanitarian care around the world — and discovered that finding the right opportunity wasn't as easy as expected. Asking surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and scrub technicians about their interest in humanitarian service, he heard the same answer again and again.

If there are qualified, willing people who want to serve, and organizations around the world that need volunteers — why is it so difficult for them to find one another? Med Serve grew out of that question: one place to discover opportunities that fit your skills, interests, resources, and availability.

The Starfish Story

By Loren Eiseley

A boy crouches on the shoreline at sunset, returning starfish to the sea

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.

Approaching the boy, he asked, "Young man, what are you doing?" The boy replied, "Throwing starfish back into the ocean."

"I must ask you, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the man. "There are miles and miles of beach and thousands of starfish. You can't make any difference!"

After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it into the sea. Then, smiling at the man, he said, "I made a difference to that one."

At Medical Service International, we believe every act of service matters. By connecting compassionate medical and dental professionals with organizations in need, we help bring hope, healing, and life-changing care — one person, one community, at a time.

Together, we can make a difference for those who need it most.
