Privacy Policy
What we collect
Medical Service International ("MedServe") collects the information you choose to provide: your name, email address, and — for clinical members — the self-attested professional details you add to your profile (credential, specialties, availability, languages, and similar). We do not ask for, extract, index, or verify license numbers, DEA numbers, NPI numbers, or any other credential identifier, and we do not store them as structured data on your profile. However, if you choose to upload a document — for example, a CV or resume — we store that file as you supplied it, and it may contain a license number, home address, date of birth, or other identifying details you included in it. We do not read, scan, or extract information from files you upload. We do not collect health information about you or anyone else.
Who sees your profile
Member profiles are private. There is no public directory and organizations cannot browse or search members. An organization sees your profile only when you apply to one of its postings, and it sees only your profile. Your email address is shared only after an organization accepts your application, so the two of you can talk directly. If you have uploaded a CV and left "Share my CV with organizations I apply to" turned on — it is on by default, and you can turn it off from your account at any time — the organization you applied to can also view and download that CV once you apply. If you turn CV sharing off, organizations cannot see or download it, no matter how many postings you apply to.
Payments
Donations are processed entirely by Stripe. Card details never touch MedServe systems; we store only Stripe’s own transaction identifiers, amounts, and your email for receipts.
Cookies and analytics
MedServe uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and cookieless analytics (Plausible) that collect no personal information. There is no advertising and no cross-site tracking.
We send transactional email about your account and activity, and optional digest emails you can turn off at any time from your account or the unsubscribe link in every digest.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Your profile, saved searches, and memberships are removed; applications you submitted are anonymized so organizations keep their own decision records without your identity. A CV you uploaded is permanently deleted, file and all, as part of that process. Photos or video you sent us for a story are handled differently: they are disassociated from your account and are no longer visible to you, but we do not currently delete the underlying file, since it may still be part of a story we are considering or have published. If you would like a submitted photo or video permanently removed, contact us using the information below. If part of a story you sent us has already been published on our Follow the Work page, deleting your account does not automatically take it down — see "Photos and video you send us for stories" below.
Files you upload
When you upload a CV or other document to your profile, it is stored in a private file store separate from the images and video on our public pages — it has no public web address and is not browsable. Only you, MedServe staff, and (if you leave CV sharing turned on, as described above) an organization you have applied to can access it. We do not scan, read, or otherwise process the contents of a file you upload beyond what is needed to store it and show it back to people allowed to see it. We do not currently publish a retention period for uploaded files. You can remove a file yourself from your account page at any time, or delete your whole account as described above.
Photos and video you send us for stories
If you submit a written story, photo, or video through our volunteer story form, you are asked to confirm two separate things before you can submit: that you grant MedServe the right to use your own likeness in what you send us, and that you have gotten the consent of anyone else who is identifiable in a photo or video before sending it to us. We record which version of this consent wording you agreed to and when. Story submissions are stored privately and reviewed by MedServe staff; nothing you submit is published automatically or without a staff member choosing to use it. If staff feature part of your story on our Follow the Work page, they use the text, photos, or video you sent, as you described them to us. If you later delete your account, a story, photo, or video we have already published is not automatically taken down — contact us if you would like us to remove it.
